Purpose beyond self

Purpose beyond self

What if we could dream beyond ourselves? What if we could create something that inspires hope?

Growing up, I never saw myself as a creative person, nor did I think I was talented—until I began playing with clay and exploring its possibilities. Something within me came alive when I started dreaming, experimenting, and picking up new skills along the way.

When I started making earrings using polymer clay, I knew that one day, I would love to teach others this skill and empower women to create and discover themselves in the process.

Grateful for friends that dream together!

More than a Business

I have always envisioned Abiding Heart as more than just a business. My desire has been for Abiding Heart to have a positive impact on women, the community, and the marginalised. That opportunity came when I was introduced to a beautiful and intelligent young Rohingya woman, Ruby (check out her story in another blog post), who was hoping to earn extra income to support her family in Bangladesh. She constantly worries about them and feels that the least she can do is send them money.

I began mentoring her, teaching her step by step—since making handmade clay earrings is a lengthy process. She loved learning and picked up the skill diligently.

What moved me the most was discovering that the money she earned didn’t stop with her. With her very first pay, she gave everything away—sending money to her family and even using some of it to bless a new friend. I was deeply touched by her generosity, and it inspired me to keep working hard so that she and her community could continue to be supported.

Now, Ruby is teaching another Rohingya woman the skills she has learned in preparation for assembling earrings for Abiding Heart. We are humbled and encouraged by this opportunity to bless this beautiful minority group. Every pair of earrings you purchase is lovingly assembled by Rohingya refugees, providing them with meaningful work and financial support.

My hope is that this space will be one where we highlight refugee stories, connect you to their journeys, and bring colour into their lives!

Refugee Awareness Day

All our earrings were sold out thanks to those who believed in the cause and bought to support our work.

Dream with us, Partner with us to serve them.
